A Leap for Lisa

Summary:

Leaping into Ensign Albert Calavicci, Sam must prove his friend's innocence in a murder case, or Al won't live to help build up PQL in the future ...

Episode Number: #4.22 / #74

German Title: Ein Sprung für Lisa

Italian Title: Il mio amico Bingo

French Title: Lisa

Personal Review:

A neat and exciting episode that demonstrates just how easily an innocent person can be court-martialed simply by circumstantial evidence. It also deals with friendship and the dangers of changing one's own past.

Besides, it was about time to leap Sam into a younger version of Al.

Leapee's Name: Ensign Albert Calavicci (aka Bingo)

Date at the Project: not stated

Project Trivia:

They leaped Bingo back in time into himself.

For direct questioning of the visitor by Ziggy, it's necessary to bring the leapee into the Control Room.

Tina is Pulse Communication Technician of the project.

Ziggy is referred to as 'she'. It was Al who named her Ziggy.

Alternate Timeline Project Trivia:

Sam's observer is Edward St. John V. (pronounced Sinjin), who called him Samuel rather than Sam until Sam asked him to stop that.

They have never brought a visitor to the Control Room before.

The project's hybrid-computer is called Alpha and is referred to as 'he'.

The Handlink looks the same as it did in the other timeline. It's the colored cubes version.

Tina and Gooshie are married.

Sam Trivia:

The last person to call him Samuel was his great-aunt Tillie.

Al Trivia:

In 1957 - in the original history - Al was accused of raping and murdering his commander's wife, Marci Riker. But it never came to court because his girlfriend, Lisa Sherman, testified that they were together at the time. Sam later discovered that it was Chip who killed Marci by accident.

Lisa Sherman died in a car-crash in the night of June 25, 1957. She was crying while driving because of the trial. They saved her by leaping Bingo back to stay with Chip and thereby prevent Marci from dying to begin with.

As a young pilot, Al flew cougars.

Al started smoking cigars when he came to Vietnam.

In 1957, Al was 23, dated a married Navy nurse named Lisa Sherman and owned a black corvette that he lend to Chip now and then.

His nickname at the time was Bingo, which he had been given by his fellow pilot Stacker. He and Bingo flew from Pensacola before they got to San Diego. According to Chip, Al also already dated Lisa before he came there.

Al is an admiral.

Al flew with Chip for about 10 years until Chip caught a SAM missile over Hai Phong.

Predicted Outcome:

Sam actually leaped in to save Lisa Sherman from dying in a car crash, but when he changed history so Al would be convicted for murder, Sam had to prove his innocence. Otherwise Al will be executed in the gas chamber.

Altered History:

After leaping Bingo back in time, he stayed with Chip so Marci wasn't killed. As a result, Lisa has no reason to cry while driving and lives.

2. khaki uniform

3. white Navy uniform

Quotes:

Dobbs: "Girlfriend or fiancée?"
Sam: "I'm not sure."

"You don't exactly need a divorce attorney, Ensign?!" (Dobbs)

Sam: "You're married."
Lisa: "Yeah, so is my husband. But that hasn't stopped him from landing in every blonde from here to Norway."

Sam: "Do you know you are you? I mean, does he know that you are him?"
Al: "No, I think that I'm my uncle Jack."

"Bingo, to quote you, you are in deep ca-ca." (Sam, looking at Bingo's reflection in the mirror)

"If I wanted to kill him, Corporal, I would have blown out both your brains by now." (Commander Riker)

"I'm going back to the Waiting Room and I'm gonna talk to me." (Al)

Bingo: "So I'm him and he's me?"
Al: "Right."
Bingo: "And who are you?"

"Portions of your memory are always erased during a leap. Don't you remember?" (St. John)

Bingo: "Now, even if I believed you, would you do this if you were me?"
Al: "I am you."

Open Questions and Logic Flaws:

Sam is there for six hours with nothing to do and trying to figure out whether his host is a murderer or not and he has neither looked into a mirror nor looked at his dogtags for a name?

Al stated that what happened was over 30 years back, but from 1957 to 1999 it's 42 years.

Sam said the guy he leaped into had even more women than Al did. Am I blind? The only one I saw was Lisa.
