Summary from Backcover:

A MONSTER LEAP ...

Dr. Donald Harding, theoretical physicist, believes only in science. His son Travis believes in the unbelievable.

It's March of 1986 when Sam leaps into Harding, who has come to Loch Ness, where his son is attempting to prove to him the existence of the fabled monster. Ziggy says there is a fifty percent chance that Sam is there to keep the two from becoming permanently estranged.

But Sam suspects that there is something more to the leap - something concerning Travis Harding's girlfriend, an oddly familiar young woman who calls herself Dixie Fuller.

Excerpt:

A loud , pneumatic whoosh! echoed in the room, but the young man didn't turn. No one heard it except Sam. He let out a small sigh of relief.

Al was here.

Sam was about to tell the couple that he needed to be alone, when Travis said, "Shoot, Dad. Where's the camera?"

"I gave it to you," Sam said. "Did you set it down?"

"I helped you get it out of the boat." Travis turned to the girl. "You got it, Dixie?"

"You were holdin' it," she said. Her accent was one of the broadest Sam had ever heard.

"The wind's really whipping out there," Sam said.

"Don't remind me." The young man grabbed his slicker and hat. He paused at the door. "You coming, Dixie?"

She shrugged. "Guess I'm wet enough. Why not? They say there's ghosts in the gray."

Together the two of them disappeared out the door. Sam turned around and saw the welcome face of Al. He was looking after the couple with a bemused expression.

"'Ghosts in the grey'?" Al asked, obviously not expecting an answer.
